MAINTENANCE SCHEDULER

Job summary

This position will be a critical part of the maintenance engineering and reliability system that conforms to Paper Excellence standards and world class best practices.

JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Superintendent, as the Maintenance Scheduler you will be accountable for identifying and managing all factors relevant to achieving safe, environmentally responsible and cost-effective maintenance execution and to maximize system availability by applying scheduling techniques and best practices to effectively control maintenance activities. You will work closely with Production, Maintenance Engineering, and Maintenance Execution to schedule all planned maintenance activities within the Mill.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Production Area leadership and other groups within the maintenance team to develop work schedule for weekly and shutdown work.
  • Coordinate Annual Shutdown and Area Shutdown schedules, including development of work schedules, coordination of all preparatory work (including logistics and contractor scope development and tendering), readiness tracking plans, and required reporting as required.
  • Develop an effective maintenance plan and modify the plan for variations due to availability of resources due to operations, actual work completed or additional work requirements
  • Work with Maintenance Planners to ensure logical breakdowns of work and sequence associated tasks, taking into account multi-craft alignment
  • Monitor and maintain work requirements and requests, paying special attention to contracts/projects being run simultaneously or in conjunction with planned shutdowns
  • Prepare and distribute weekly and shutdown schedules to the team and facilitate schedule development meetings, craft capacity outlook reports, perform capacity planning and maintain work center capacity data in SAP
  • Review work scope change requests prior to their introduction into the proposed schedule and projects impact to craft capacity
  • Work with Maintenance Planners to maintain and continuously improve job plans and associated SAP data (strategies, bill of materials (BOMs), work centres, plans, etc.)
  • Maximize resource productivity by ensuring the supply of parts, materials, special tools, external services and rental equipment and relevant documentation is identified, coordinated and documented within plans prior to being incorporated for scheduling
  • Assist in the development and provide input and suggestions to improve effectiveness of maintenance programs, processes and procedures and ensure compliance to all relevant policies and standards including Management of Change (MoC) and maintenance business processes and provide input into the development of area-specific procedures and standards
  • Adhere to all health, safety and environment standards and ensure effective actions and programs are in place to sustain safety and reliability performance goals

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

- Post secondary diploma or degree (particularly in Engineering Technology) would be an asset

EXPERIENCE:

- 3 - 5 years’ experience in Maintenance Scheduling within a complex industrial environment.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

- Experience with SAP would be considered an asset.

- Experience with MS Project would be considered an asset.

- Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.
